About Us

St. Antony’s Convent girl's Inter College situated at 71 Dayanand Marg, Prayagraj was founded on 21st November 1923 by the Canossian Daughters of Charity, a Religious Institute founded by St. Magdalene of Canossa in 1808 at Verona, Italy.  Saint Magdalene was born in 1774 in an aristocratic family of Verona. She grew up at a time when corruption, abuse and social Injustice were  rampant  in Italy and other parts of Europe. The  situation was worsened by the Napoleonic wars and invasion of foreign powers in Italy. She gathered the abandoned and helpless girls and young women and gave them instruction in order to save them from social evils. Walking in the footsteps of St. Magdalene, we the Canossian Daughters of Charity strive to  educate and empower the girl-child.
